Slim's Detailing Academy - Master Detailer
Slim's Detailing Academy is the only provider of a detailing training course with a recognised qualification in the UK. The 'Master Detailer - Quality Assured Programme' is recognised & accredited by the IMI, which is the Sector Skills Council for the retail motor industry.
Colin's Accreditation - Master Detailer
Once I decided to start VIPER AUTO VALET I knew I wanted to do it properly, so I needed some training to give myself some accreditation.
I booked a three day Master Detailer Course through Slim’s part of the Morelli Group. This would give me accreditation to Institute of the Motor Industry. This was just what I wanted for VIPER AUTO VALET. The course was held in Coventry at the Jaguar / Land Rover correction paint shops.
The course covered all I needed from the basics of washing wheels and paintwork and up to machine paint enhancement and machine polishing. Almost a whole day was given to the application of polishes and waxes and the application of ceramic coatings. There was much more to ceramic coatings than I had realised, including correct paint preparation, coating application and cure times. The biggest eye-opener was what can go wrong and the work needed to rectify an incorrectly applied ceramic coating.
The course ended with a classroom exam all based on what had been discussed and practised during the three-day course.
Although the course was not cheap, it was a great benefit to me and my current and future client base.
